Noise in the 1959 electric windshield wiper transmission may be caused by excessive end play in idle shaft and/or reversing link shaft. Service Package 4906066 has been released to correct this condition. This package contains shim washers, seal cap, and retaining rings for adjusting the and play of the idle shaft and reversing link shaft (See Fig). End play washers are .005" thick. In order to obtain the .005" maximum, correct end play adjustment of shaft and add washers one at a time until retaining ring will just fit in groove and not cause a bind.
